What To Expect

Exploring the gateway to the fjords

We begin in the center of Bergen, founded in 1070. As we drive through the historical landmarks, you’ll learn how the city evolved from a small trading post to the bustling fjord capital it is today.

Royal parks and old Bergen

Our first stops take us to the quieter side of the city. We visit Gamle Haugen, the King’s residence in Bergen, where we take a short walk through the park to enjoy the fjord views. We also visit the open-air museum at Gamle Bergen, capturing the atmosphere of the city as it looked in the past.

Osterøy: A natural phenomenon and panoramic views

Our journey takes us to the southern fjord, part of the unique Osterfjord system. This is a peculiar natural phenomenon: a saltwater inlet that completely surrounds Osterøy, the largest island in Northern Europe. We drive along the shoreline until we reach the impressive Osterøy Bridge. We will make a dedicated stop at the end of the bridge so you can step out, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the panoramic view of the fjord below.

Traditional life at Havråtunet

At the open-air museum of Havråtunet, we take a short walk up to the cluster of old wooden houses. From this elevated vantage point, you will have a spectacular view of the fjord. This spot is perfect for photos and gives you a real sense of how Norwegian mountain farms were positioned in the past to overlook their surroundings.

Music history and the local ferry

Before heading back, we pass the villa of the world-famous violinist Ole Bull. Your guide will share stories of his extraordinary life. To complete the western-Norwegian experience, we take a local ferry across the fjord—the same way locals have traveled for generations—before returning to the city center.
